[From the Spring, 1996 issue of The Harvard Gay & Lesbian Newsletter]
This year, for the first time, the Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus will participate as a team in Boston's Walk for Life. On Sunday, June 2, we will walk 10 kilometers (6.4 miles) alongside other companies, organizations and groups to raise funds for programs in AIDS care, prevention and advocacy. I would like to invite to join us all who are interested in continuing this tradition of support and in furthering a new tradition of service for the Caucus.
This effort follows the success of a recent volunteer effort at the Boston Living Center. A large contingent of Caucus members and friends served dinner for a number of Boston residents with HIV and AIDS. With the AIDS Pledge Walk and other service initiatives HGLC can expand its activities and become a more relevant presence in the queer community and beyond.
Join us! New England members will receive a pledge sheet with this newsletter. Please record our team number, 2104, on the sheet and notify Tom Gerace, by mail, PO Box 381809, Cambridge, 02238-1809, or by e-mail, [email protected], of your intention to walk and to request a pledge sheet. If you cannot join us on June 2, the Caucus would welcome your donations to support our efforts. Harvard will make an additional $5 contribution for each student, alumna/us or member of the faculty or staff who registers before the walk by calling 617-495-4955.
